Would recommend this to everyone! At first I was VERY skeptical about spending this much on a yoga mat, when I could pick one up at my local WalMart! Instructions talk about some kind of invisible film you have to scrub off or give a few months to break in. I scrubbed it down 3 times without seeing any difference.
Great cushion, mat stays in place, dries quickly after being washed, good size. This mat is heavy, soft, and appears to be made of very high quality material. However, I have had a lot of difficulty in removing the slippery film.
I purchased the mat because Amazon gave a discount on a first purchase. That was my justification.
However, after a week of regular use and washing after each use with mat wash, the stickiness is really beginning to come through. The thickness is incredibly helpful for holding poses — this mat doesn’t bunch or slip around on the floor — and the extra space (both a little wider and longer than my old mat) is especially nice in very full classes. I’m really hoping to write back with a great follow-up, but so far this mat isn’t working out well for me. I have used the Hugger Mugger version as well and I prefer this one hands down. I also washed the bag in cold water and air-dried it to make sure it didn’t shrink on me, and it didn’t. The bag is awesome, by the way – roomy enough for a few other things and with a mesh pocket inside for keys, iPod, etc.
This is the Mercedes of yoga mats and padded enough for Pilates too. It is pricey, but you will not be disappointed! Really felt secure in going into some of the poses; surprising how one subtly holds themselves back when the feeling of traction is missing. A little bit longer of a mat (for the price) would have been nice. I practice Ashtanga so I put my yoga rug on top and it provides the perfect cushion and traction without being mushy. It does weigh quite a bit, but I like it so much I actually take it with me when I travel. I have no complaints. This is one of the best yoga mats on the market. Yoga mats come in three basic thicknesses. At 1/4″ this one tops even the thickest sticky mats. There is a huge difference from this mat and the standard yoga mat. Love how thick it is.
The first day that I used it, I emailed my friend telling her that I had just fallen in love, with my new mat. I love this mat! I was expecting a different material, guess I didn’t do enough research, the mat is sturdy (fairly smooth, I still practice with an additional layer on top). The thing I don’t like so much about it is its weight- heaviest mat I have ever had!
I’ve had the mat for about 3 weeks now. Backyard Landscaping Pictures.
