Coconut milk is now a total staple in my diet program. I use it in salsas, coffee and tea, also in any recipe that necessitates regular cow’s milkI really love the stuff!
After I began using it, I obtained the canned range at my neighborhood health food store and would go home and transfer it into a glass container in the refrigerator. The ingredients listing was really limited( coconut and water) plus it appeared just like a tasty, healthy and balanced selection to me and my family.
But there is1 thing that continued to bother me a tiny bit. With the regularity which i began to use the product, I did not like that I was using a “canned” item so often. Sorry To Say, any canned ingredients are likely to contain chemical substances that leach out of the actual can and I just didn’t feel good about using something like that SO often.
Do Not get me wrong. I’ll use canned goods every now and then, and there is no problem with using some canned products weekly, but when it isa food items that has been a daily staple, I believed I had to take a bit more of a natural method to this kind of food stuff.
Following That I found the coconut milk varieties you discover in the fridge section of your food store. That felt like the next most convenient thing. However, when I began reading through the ingredients list, I easily identified ingredients like carrageenan, guar gum and evaporated cane juice and made a decision I wanted to enjoy my coconut milk not having these additional ingredients.
And So I made a decision to do what any very occupied, working mum would domake my ownhahahaas if I genuinely have plenty of time to accomplish this!
In all seriousness, the recipe listed below is indeed a piece of cake and quick that even a pregnant, working mommy( of course, I’m talking about me) can take care of it and keep it in the fridge all the time.
Natural Coconut Milk (I learned this technique from Tropical Customs)
Ingredients 7/8 cup of shredded coconut 1 cup hot water cup hot water
You’ll need: Blender Colander Cheesecloth Big bowl
Instructions: Put shredded coconut into the food processor. Adding A Single cup hot water into the vita mixer. Blending at high-speed for Two- Three mins. Place your cheesecloth over the colander. Pour the pulp ( from the blender) in the cheesecloth. Press the coconut milk into the colander. Put the pulp back into the food processor. Put Half A cup hot water. Blend on high-speed once more for approximately 1- Two minutes. Put the pulp back in the cheesecloth.
This might appear to be a lot of steps, but I guarantee you its a breeze. This Is just blending water and shredded coconut and squeezing the milk out of it. You will see quickly this homemade version is noticeably nicer and much better than any store bought canned product.
