How to Benefit by Running to Lose Weight

Because of all the new gimmicks and machines being released every year it seems rather old fashioned to say you should run to lose weight. Yet there are millions out there who find running to be a very effective method of weight loss as well as helping them to get into better condition. Running can be something you do for life, as there are people in their sixties and beyond who keep it up, and you can also do it pretty much anywhere.

Although you have other choices, running is a great workout. Ways that you can do this include finding an outdoor arena, or an indoor track and start running around it. Another way to do this is to run on a treadmill. Once you know where you want to run, go there on a regular basis. Your workout needs to be regulated, so that you can become accustomed to the run when you are initially getting in shape.

For instance, if you run on a treadmill, stick with that and don’t change to running in the park later in the week. This can make an injury more likely, as you’re not giving yourself a chance to get acclimated to one type of surface. Many people that run will have a sports watch with them so that they can track their progress as they do their exercises. There are many watches you can buy that aren’t very expensive and will help you track your speed and distance when you run. If you’re serious about running to lose weight, you don’t want to just run randomly, but have goals and see how well you’re doing at keeping up with them. When you start out, you don’t have to set impossible goals for yourself, as this will only get you discouraged or cause you to get injured. Reasonably set goals, that are actually achievable in a realistic amount of time, are the only ones that you should set so that you can make continual and steady progress.

People that decide to start running in an attempt to lose weight can avoid potential injuries by warming up properly before each run. Good advice that you should utilize prior to starting your run is to stretch properly to limber up your muscles so that injuries will not occur. Stretching gets your muscles prepared for the activity, and makes it less likely that you’ll suffer an injury. Warm-up exercises are an essential part of maintaining your health while training. You need to simply build up to a run by starting off slow with a jog. It’s also good to cool down gradually rather than going fast and then stopping abruptly. If you do this, you will allow your muscles to return to normal and do so in an appropriate and non-stressful manner.

In most cases, running is a great way to lose weight in a more efficient manner than most other weight loss programs. Fresh air, sun, and the scenery around you are all positive aspects of running to lose weight. Most people that enjoy running find themselves waiting to run the next day in anticipation, something that you may experience as well.

AGW is typical of the religious peer review system. And this is why the friends of Galileo developed the scientific method instead.
