The Fat Person’s Tactics





The two persons inside you, the fat person and the thin person, are at odds. They operate in different ways, and they want different things. The same world isn’t going to work for both of them.

The first thing you have to recognize is that the fat person has the edge right now. She’s bigger, stronger, more clever, and more devious. She’s been getting all the attention. You’ve been feeding her while you starved the thin person. The fat person has a lot of influence over your behavior right now. When you start to replace her with the thin person, she’s going to put a fight. She’s going to try to make you as uncomfortable as she can.

The fat person is more devious that you can possibly imagine. The more threatened she gets, the more desperate and devious she becomes. She’s starting to slip off the ledge and her fingernails are clawing at your throat.

She may try to fool you into thinking she’s on your side. She may have been sitting on your shoulder while you’ve been thinking about being thin and healthy, solemnly nodding her head and agreeing with everything you’ve been thinking  about being thin and healthy. But when push comes to shove, she’s going to use that positive thinking against you.

This is when she starts coming up with the “Yeah, but’s…” Good! These are her last ditch efforts.

- “Yeah, but no one can change themselves and start thinking that differently from the way they have in the past.”

- “Yeah, but I’m okay just the way I am. Looks aren’t that important to me.”

- “Yeah, but I don’t have what it takes to change.”

The way things are now, you see, she’s in the center stage, she has all the attention.  And she knows if you start listening to the thin person inside you, her game is over.

You don’t have to let the fat person get to you, though. You have a weapon she doesn’t know about, and it can cut through just about anything: you know her game plan. You know how she operates. You know the tricks she will try to use on you, and you can head her off before she gets started. You even have something better than that. You have detachment.

Just remember the the fat person isn’t you. Any time you play into her game, any time you give her energy and attention, she gains strenghth. And any time you just watch with detachment, you weaken her. The weaker she gets, the stronger the thin person becomes.

    I understand that there should be specific therapies for the different genders but none the less losing weight is the main goal. To start and complete a program is difficult and sometimes as studies show the amount of time to exercise to see results is not met. why they are not met and if there is a difference in the gender of why they are not met we may be able to focus on that. Great information

    just enjoy yourself, and if you are still so worryed about it, stuff yourself and you wont have to worry about a thing getting underweight.
