Living Passionately

Anything you do passionately becomes fun.  It doesn’t matter whether it’s exercising, doing needlepoint, making love, or advancing in your career.  If you’re passionate about it, it’s exciting and you’re having a good time.

Some people think that passion is a random thing that goes with some things and not with others.  That’s just not true.  You can be passionate about anything, even doing the dishes.  All you have  to remember is that you’re the one  in charge of whether you’re passionate or not, and that whatever you do is going to be a lot more fun if you do it with passion.

Passion has less to do with the activity than with your state of mind.  One person can’t imagine getting excited about jogging, while another person can’t get enough of it.  That person lives and breathes jogging.  Her eyes light up when she talks about it, as if it were the most wonderful thing in the world.  Some people get passionate about politics, and others could care less.  Some people are passionate about clothes and others aren’t.  It’s not the activity but how you approach it.  It’s a matter of making life exciting and playing high stakes.

Try it out next time you’re faced with something you want to get done but don’t particularly want to do.  Doing the dishes is a good example.  See if you can work up some passion for the project.  Treat it as if it were the most important, exciting task in the world.  Allow yourself to enjoy every minute of it; don’t think about anything else.  You may find that you have more fun doing those dishes than you had at any other time in the day.

How you look and feel about yourself is an issue that’s probably more important to you than the dishes.  If you inject the element of passion into living life as a thin person, it will make it all the more fun.  It will turn the barriers and obstacles into exciting challenges that you revel in overcoming.  You won’t have to mope around worrying whether it’s going to work or not.  You’ll be too busy having fun.  You’ll love thin instead of hating fat.
